Bill sourced and salvaged all the wood used at Natural Flats while he conducted sustainable logging in Iowa. Wood species includes walnut, white oak, black cherry, mulberry, butternut, Kentucky coffee, ash and honey locust. Tables, desks, accent tables and benches are paired with steel legs custom-made at an area metal-working shop; some are more suitably paired with up-cycled metal bases. The function and versatility of each finished piece is dependent upon the size and shape of the original flat, along with pairing of the height and style of the legs or base. Cribbage boards are made from end pieces of the original flats.

As all pieces are one-of-a-kind, many gallery items shown are examples of Bill's work but no longer available. Complimentary or very similar pieces may be seen at his house, or custom-made for the buyer. 
Note: All work is completed by hand so custom orders may take 4-6 weeks for completion.
